What Is a Waking Watch?
Waking Watch is a critical fire safety strategy for buildings identified as high risk, often due to cladding or other serious fire safety concerns. It involves trained personnel conducting continuous patrols of all internal floors and external perimeters to detect fire hazards, raise alarms, and lead safe evacuations. At F&ES, we provide a trusted, reassuring presence where it’s needed most – offering fast response and expert evacuation co-ordination until permanent fire safety measures are in place.
What Our Wardens Do
Our professional Wardens deliver 24/7 Waking Watch and Evacuation Management. They monitor escape routes, assist vulnerable residents, log patrols via NFC tags, and produce daily safety reports. In an emergency, they call 999, co-ordinate evacuation, and support Fire & Rescue Services on arrival. They also conduct fire drills, maintain compliance with the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, manage the Premises Information Box, and deliver site-specific evacuation plans, including Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs). Their presence brings immediate reassurance and long-term risk reduction.
