I spoke to Marketing Manager, Jill Richmond, about the history of Greenbrook, and how they’ve come to be the trusted manufacturer and supplier of electrical products they are now. “Founded as Besson and Robinson (B&R Relays) designing & manufacturing relays in Harlow in 1952, since its beginnings as a manufacturer of electromechanical relays, GreenBrook has transformed itself through product development, innovation and strategic acquisition. We acquired Norslo in the 1970s, introduced PowerBreaker RCDs in 1975 – when we changed our name to GreenBrook Electrical and we then acquired RDL Ventilation & Emergency lighting in 2006. Since then we have added products to our portfolio to become one of the biggest suppliers to the UK wholesale market.”
Greenbrook provide a wide range of products for numerous markets, Jill Richmond elaborates, “We support the Electrical Wholesale industry with a wide selection of electrical installation equipment, including Lighting, RCDs, Weatherproof accessories and Cable Management products. We are now working more closely with Electrical Contractors to help specify jobs in a partnership with those wholesalers that support us the most.”
Greenbrook itself is an umbrella, with three brands operating underneath it; Powerbreaker, Greenbrook (incorporating Lighting, Heating & Timers) and Norslo. Greenbrook’s extensive product range, therefore, is suitable for a wide range of different industry sectors.
Greenbrook place a special emphasis on the safety and security of its products, ensuring they all conform to current regulations. All products conform to British and European standards, while they are compliant with RoHS, WEEE, and REACH regulations. A testament to their continued emphasis on quality, Greenbrook is ISO900:2008 accredited, whilst all of their products are tested in independent UK laboratories. Jill Richmond explains this further, “We work hard to ensure that our products are tested to the latest standards and this testing is undertaken by independent test houses (such as the LIA or NEMKO) so we can ensure we are confident of offering our customers the best quality products.”
While an uncompromising emphasis on quality is one of the company’s core principles and has thus far propelled them to continued success, Greebrook’s view to constantly put the customer first has also played a major part in building such a trusted brand with a solid reputation. Greenbrook seeks to give its customers peace of mind, with its sales teams endeavouring to provide guidance for the customer & answer any questions they may have.
